After much waiting, Universal Studios Japan has finally released the area map for its upcoming Super Nintendo World attraction, which is themed around various characters in the Super Mario universe.
Furthermore, the theme park is even inviting select Club Universal members and annual pass holders to experience the highly anticipated attraction first hand, prior to its official launch on 4 February 2021.
Those most of us will be unable to experience Super Nintendo World till its opening in 2021, at least we still have the finalised area map of the real-world Mushroom Kingdom to help give us an idea of what to expect.
An annotated version of the map has even been released, with the markings as follows, clockwise from the top left (via Soranews24):
- Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge
- Koopa’s Castle
- Mount Beanpole
- Yoshi’s Adventure
- 1-Up Factory
- Peach’s Castle
- Stop It! Piranha Plant Alarm Panic
- Take Aim! Koopa Troopa POW Block Punch
- Kinopio’s Cafe
Visitors to the park can also purchase Power Up Bands to take part in the Key Challenge activities which include the Piranha Plan and Koopa Troopa locations.
Kinopio’s (or Toad as he is referred to by Western fans) cafe is where Super Mario fans can find tons of food modelled after elements in the popular game series. Including a Question Mark Block Tiramisu, a Mario Burger with Bacon, Cheese, and Mushroom, a Piranha Plant Caprese, and Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl. You won’t turn bigger after eating it but at least you’ll be satisfied, full, and ready to explore the rest of the attraction.
Before leaving, visitors can also visit the 1-Up Factory souvenir shop which has a giant pipe as an entrance. There you will be able to find various Super Mario-themed items such as hats, hoodies, and toys.
Though it was supposed to open in 2020 as part of the Tokyo Olympics, it was delated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At least fans can rest easy knowing that it’ll finally be opening in just a few months. It has also been announced that Super Nintendo World areas will be added to Universal Studios theme parks in Hollywood, Florida, and Singapore.
In case you’ve missed it, Nintendo had recently held a Nintendo Direct where it showed off more of Super Nintendo World.
