RoboCop is back, y’all. Along with him comes a Detroit that is under siege by 80s punks and classic OCP corruption. Oh, and of course a rampaging Ed-209 or two. Nacon’s RoboCop: Rogue City revealed some gameplay today and we are 100 percent behind it. Try not to explode from the inside out when you see that green targeting grid light up to track some unfortunate street punk. “Dead or alive, you’re coming with me!”
The synopsis provided for RoboCop: Rogue City goes like this:
Welcome to Detroit; crime runs rampant as the city lies on the edge of ruin, people fighting for scraps as others live extravagant lives of luxury. Control of the Detroit Police Department is given to the Omni Consumer Products corporation in an attempt to restore order. You are that solution, RoboCop, a cyborg tasked with protecting the city.
Judging from the gameplay, there is going to be alot of violence and a lot of gore. There was already a ton of heads getting shot off. Plus, along the way you see some old friends turn up. For one, Ed-209 is raring to welcome you home. Let’s just hope for his sake there are no stairs anywhere.
RoboCop: Rogue City will be coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch in June 2023.
Bong Joon-Ho is preparing to re-team with both Steven Yeun and Robert Pattinson. Joon Ho previously worked with the two actors on eco satire, Okja. This time around, he teams up with the duo for Mickey7 a novel by Edward Ashton.
The synopsis for Mickey7’s novel provided on Deadline goes like this:
“follows Mickey7, who is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.”
Joon-Ho’s body of work is incredible. His early films like Memories of Murder are outstanding. He manged to break down all barriers when he took the cinematic world by storm with Parasite. The film swept awards season and found Joon-Ho at the height of his career. Parasite ultimately took home the Oscar for Best Picture .
Both Steven Yeun and Robert Pattinson have had tremendous years of their own. Their film lineups have been incredible. It’s fantastic to see this trio combine themselves at this stage in their careers.
Joon-Ho is going to re-write Mickey7 and direct the film.
We will keep you updated on Mickey7 as we get the info in.
It seems like the only news that is around this week is Stranger Things news. Yesterday’s news that Ross and Matt Duffer have created a new production company called Upside Down is monumental and already has some awesome sound projects in the works. The Upside Down team is currently working on a live action Death Note and Stephen King’s The Talisman. It hasn’t stopped the Duffers from keeping the Stranger Things ideas coming though.
[The pan and scan option] wouldn’t be embedded, it’d be its own separate thing. Like Stranger Things VHS, whatever it is. I’m excited about it, we’ll see if it happens.” The Duffers said.
