Super Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto gives us a first look inside Universal Studio Japan’s Super Nintendo World. This all-new area looks amazing! From Power Ups, places to explore, even Super Mario Themed Dining & Merch, Universal did such a wonderful job bringing us inside the World of Super Mario Brothers!
In the photo above, the entrance to Super Nintendo World feels like you are being warped right into this classic NES game.
Inside the park, you will hear the music from all your favorite Super Mario games. Look at that amazing view of Mount Beanpole. I want to grab that flag at the top!
All of the characters move just like you are in a video game.
There is even an actual Princess Peach’s castle!
Many of the decorations around Super Mario World are interactive.
All 6 of these Power Up Bands will record your activity in Super Mario World.
All over the land, there are games and puzzles for you to earn power-ups and coins.
Universal wants you to explore the area and try to figure out the many mini-games, but be careful some have unexpected surprises.
While you are exploring the area be sure to stop by the 1up Factory which sells all your favorite Super Mario Merch.
I especially love the special Universal Studios Popcorn that was made just for Super Mario World. I think I will pass on the Mushroom flavor though.
You can even meet Mario and Luigi! Here we go!!!
If you are hungry for a little more than popcorn make sure to drop by Kinopio’s Cafe with Chef Toad.
Getting power-ups can make a person very hungry.
I especially love the Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl.
Inside Bowser’s Castle is Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge which is a ride experience that has never been seen before.
Bowser created a special course just to beat Mario.
Guests will join Mario to defeat Bowser in this one of a kind ride.
This special AR Headset is worn in Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge looks just like Super Mario’s hat from in the games!
If you can’t make it to Japan, Universal plans on opening Super Nintendo World in both Universal Orlando and Universal Hollywood!
For a look inside Universal Studio Japan’s Super Nintendo World check out this video with special tour guide Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Super Mario:
Growing up Super Mario was a big part of my childhood. I can’t wait to dive into the land of Super Mario! Not sure I will be able to make it to Japan anytime soon so it looks like I will have to wait till it comes to Florida or California…
